Volunteer

Are you looking for adventure, a challenge, work experience, job satisfaction and wanting to spend time in the great outdoors? Then have we got an opportunity for you! Become a volunteer for the HBF Freeway Bike Hike for Asthma. You can be part of a team committed to helping more people cycle as well as raise money for asthma education and research and have plenty of fun doing it!

By joining our "Vollies Crew" of over 300 volunteers, you'll see plenty of action, make loads of friends and go home with fantastic memories. All this and we won't even ask you to pedal!

Our volunteers are from all walks of life: students wanting to develop work skills, retirees who are not ready to settle down, people just wanting to do something unique on a Sunday morning, or anyone looking for a job out of the ordinary. Volunteering is your chance to contribute to a great cause and be part of the biggest mass participation bike ride in Perth!

There are many ways to contribute to the HBF Freeway Bike Hike for Asthma and we look forward to meeting you and discussing how we can work together!

Volunteer tasks will include:

  1. Route Marshals
  2. Rehydration Station Attendants
  3. Venue Marshals
  4. Parking Marshals
  5. General Office (week days before the event)

*** UPDATE 12/3/2010 - ROUTE MARSHALS NEEDED ***
We have managed to fill most positions but still require over 100 Route Marshals!  This crucial role involves monitoring riders and reporting through via two-way radio if assistance is required.  Route Marshals will meet at Belmont at 6:00am to pick up their two-way radio and then dropped by bus at key points along the Mitchell Freeway.  Once the ride has finished, the bus will return to pick them up and drop them back at Belmont Park Racecouse.  This should be at approximately 12:00pm.

Volunteers will also be required to attend one of the pre-event briefings which will be held on Tuesday 15 March and Thursday 17 March from 6:30pm until 7:30pm at the Asthma Foundation of WA, 36 Ord Street, West Perth.
